Grouper Abu Point

Grouper Abu Point

Scientific Name: Epinephelus malabaricus
Breeding cycle: 2-6 months
Max body length: 230 cm
Sample length: 39cm
Fry Length: 6.5 cm (Provided by Mr. Wu Feng Reng)

Distribution: The warm waters of the Indian Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, and Taiwan (particularly in the northern, eastern and southern regions of it).

Characteristics: It originated in Ping Kho County, and it is of high economic value. It is also considered one of the oldest industrial farms in Taiwan, due to the depletion of natural resources in Ping Kho, so most of what is eaten these days is farmed fish. Because of the short spawning period compared to the red spot grouper, as well as the cost of eggs, which are at the same price, the majority of farmers get rid of the black point grouper, which reduces the number of fry produced. As for the biological environment, most of them are hermaphroditic, initially female and then become male, despite the difference in the human race, in which each species differs from the other.
